Progress on the Tiger December 23, 2010 at 5:37 pm

It’s been a busy few days, with the Christmas holiday and all that comes with it.  Little progress has been made on the Tiger.  I expect to have all the scratching completed by the end of this weekend.  Then I will be airbrushing the piece, and will go back in and scratch again.  This will help give the piece more ‘depth’ and more of a three-dimensional feel.

Merry Christmas to all!

New Tiger (work in progress) December 13, 2010 at 5:01 am

I received permission to use a wonderful shot of a tiger as reference.  I love the crop and lighting in the original photograph.  Here is where it stands as of today.  This is on an 11×14 board.

My First Solo Show November 29, 2010 at 5:33 am

I am happy to report that 18 pieces of my scratchboard work are on display at a local theater in Santa Clarita.  The work is on exhibit at the Canyon Theater, in their hallway gallery.  It will be on display until January 6th.

I apologize for the lapse in posting here, but I had been working long hours over the last couple of months trying to complete the pieces needed for the exhibit.

I will be having an artist’s reception on December 11th.

“EVENING GRAZE” at 5:29 am

This update has been long coming.

“Evening Graze” was completed, and I entered it into the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association’s “Art Classic” gala in October.  I am happy to report that the piece received a Silver Medal in the “other media” category.

Here is the finished piece.

Making some progress on the Grazing Horse September 21, 2010 at 4:51 am

Still lots to do, though!   The reference photograph for this piece is also by Tambako The Jaguar, a very talented and generous photographer.  You can see his work on Flickr.

Update on the Grazing Horse September 8, 2010 at 5:00 am

Was able to spend a few hours over the Labor Day weekend on the grazing horse (title yet to be determined).  Still lots of scratching to be done on this one, including the background and what is visible of the legs.

Last Days of Summer Art Expo at 4:57 am

Four of my pieces were juried into a show that was on exhibit this past weekend.  I would say that the majority of the work was photography, with some paintings and also some drawings.  It was all of great caliber.  The show’s curator was very complimentary of my scratchboard work.  I was very happy to be part of the show.  If for nothing else than to have some exposure.  I see that there has been some traffic to my website over the last couple of days.  This is clearly a result of the promotional material I left at the show.  Not sure if any sales will come of it, but I’m getting some needed exposure.

Grazing Horse (work in progress) August 27, 2010 at 3:10 pm

Hello.  I have not done a horse before.  Found a wonderful reference photograph of a cream-colored horse grazing in the early evening light.  Wonderful contrast.    Here is where things stand at the moment.  I will be trying an airbrush for the first time on scratchboard.  I will explain the process later on.
